Why every girl should read “Girl, Wash Your Face”

Have you ever read a book that really impacted your life?

I recently read “Girl, wash your face,” and that’s exactly what happened. I ordered this  book because the author, Rachel Hollis, is one of my favorite bloggers and I honestly aspire to be like her when I “grow” up. She is the go-getter and the kind of woman that nothing stops her. (If you read her book, you will see what I am talking about).

I decided to write this blog post because I learned so much from this book that I would like to share it with other young women. Rachel covers pretty much everything a woman goes through (Or can possibly go through). She is completely vulnerable about everything in each chapter- It allows us to relate to her and apply her experience to what we are going through. Every chapter begins with a lie that we may possibly believe, then she gives us the tips on how we can overcome it.

I am not going to write about every specific chapter because I really want you to go out and grab a copy of her book, enjoy and learn from it. I am just going to go over a few of the things that stand out the most (Even though I wish I could just copy and paste the book right here cause honestly, it’s ALL important).

Rachel does an amazing job at helping you realize that your life is what you want it to be. She covers relationships, sex, motherhood, rejection, comparison, dreams, race and so much more.

You will be laughing and crying while reading this book. By the way, don’t read chapter 15 in public because I can guarantee that you will be crying. I was at Starbucks when I was reading this chapter and I didn’t know how to hide my tears. There will be times when you won’t be able to stop laughing and might even pee a little (I didn’t, but you might).

Overall, this book made me realize that there is so much more to life. It made me feel capable of achieving my goals, and it motivated me to be the best version of myself. I really wish that I could go into detail about every chapter, but the way I’ll explain it will not compare to the way she does it. This book will capture your attention from the moment you start reading it. And yes there were some chapters that I couldn’t relate to, yet, but they still made such an impact in my life. I understood some things that other women might be going through because of those chapters.

I met with a group of wonderful women and we discussed the book, and I found it incredibly amazing to see how we each got something different from the book. How they all related to each chapter in a different way, but at the same time we all felt super positive about what is to come. Plus, it was an amazing way to meet a group of beautiful, talented women.

And for all you anti- religion people, this book is not religious at all. Yes, she is Christian. Yes, she does come from a Pentecostal family. Yes, she believes in Jesus. No, she is not trying to preach to you.

With over a million copies sold and #1 New York Times Bestseller, you have no option but to go grab a copy. I mean you do have the option, but I would suggest just pretending like you don’t and just go. Grab yourself some wine, a notebook to take some notes because you are going to want to and just enjoy every minute of it.

Love Always,

Daisy
