For the longest time I believed in pursuing. I believed in pursuing your dreams, pursuing the life that you want and even at some point pursuing that boy. How incredibly naïve have I been. Don’t get me wrong, you do need to pursue what you want, but before you do that, there’s a missing part that sometimes we forget. I know I have and still do sometimes.
That small, but very powerful part is PRAYING… We forget to ask God first.
“This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us” -1 John 5:14
My sister is younger than me, but I have learned something from her. Every time you ask her something or she’s about to do something she will say “I don’t know, let me pray about it”. After so many years, I have just gotten used to it. I already know that will be her answer for almost everything. And I had never thought about it, but then I realized that there’s not any other way to move forward but to rely solely on what that prayer will bring you. What that initial response will give you.
And I know, God doesn’t always answer at the moment you pray, but what I do know is that he answers at the right time.
“Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you”. -Jeremiah 29:12
Before you switch careers, pray. Before you start your day, pray. Before you get into that relationship, pray. Before you move forward, Pray. In the midst of the storm, pray. Because not only does prayer give you answers but it also gives you peace. It gives you peace when taking that leap of faith, when you’re feeling troubled, when ever there’s doubt, his peace will be there.
If you are feeling stuck and don’t know how to move forward, take a moment and tell God… “God, I don’t know where to go from here”. He’s there, he knows your struggle, he’s just waiting on you to ask. He’s waiting on you to put your trust, your life, your past, your present, your future and all that you are in his hands.
God will change your prayer to the right prayer. He will listen and answer those prayers. And my only pursue now, is to be more like him. I think it’s time that we stop pursuing before we start praying…
Love always,
Daisy
